Red Rooster Bar & Grill branding, logo, and website design by Evolve Creative

Some of the best bars and restaurants in the country are invisible online. Not because they aren't worth finding, but because they've never had the digital foundation to help new customers find them.

Red Rooster Bar & Grill in Pierz, Minnesota is exactly that kind of place. They serve award-winning Bloody Marys, host community events like Oktoberfest and Bologna Days, and run what they proudly call the largest meat raffle in central Minnesota. Their regulars love them, their Facebook page stays active, and their horseradish pickles have been flying off the shelves for over 23 years.

But when they connected with the Evolve Creative team, they had no website, no cohesive brand identity, and a retail product that deserved far more than it was getting. Here’s how we helped change that.

The Challenge:

A Beloved Business Without A Digital Presence

When Red Rooster came to us, the gap between their in-person experience and their online presence was significant. Their bar and grill was a genuine community hub but they had no brand or digital presence. No centralized place to showcase their menu, promote their events, or reach customers beyond their immediate circle.

Without a website, there was no foundation for showing up in Google search results and no way to direct new customers searching online. Their horseradish pickles had been a community favorite for over 23 years. But without consistent, professional branding across their label, merchandise, and marketing materials, they couldn't position the product the way it deserved.

The goal was to build a brand identity that felt authentic to who Red Rooster is, create packaging for their signature pickle line, and launch a website to serve as a true home base for the business. All of this came together in a span of about three months, from mid-June through early September 2025.

From the very start, the direction was clear and intentional: Americana through and through. Red Rooster wanted a brand that felt relatable and approachable, deeply rooted in the community they had spent years building. Authentic to who they are, traditional in character, and wholesome with a premium edge. That direction shaped every decision Evolve made from there.

Land on your own homepage and try to complete each of those actions. Time yourself. If any of them takes more than 30 seconds, there's a structural problem.

The Approach:

Strategy Before Design

We started where we always do, with a strategy call to understand Red Rooster’s direction and learn more about their customers. That conversation gave the team exactly what we needed to build from.

One thing that stood out right away was the importance of keeping the rooster. Red Rooster had a rooster in their existing brand and wanted to keep it for recognition in their community. Brand recognition matters, especially for a business with deep local roots. The goal was to honor that while giving the mark a meaningful upgrade. What they needed was a logo that looked vintage, like it had genuinely been around for 23 years, but with just enough contemporary polish to feel intentional and current.

We developed two brand concepts that each interpreted that direction in different ways. The client gravitated toward the first concept almost immediately, and it only needed minor adjustments before moving forward. That kind of early alignment is a good sign that the strategy conversation did its job.

From there, we built out the full brand system: primary logo, supporting marks, color palette, and typography. All carrying that same vintage, Americana feel. Then we applied it directly to the horseradish pickle labels, keeping the vintage vibe consistent from the glass jar in someone's refrigerator to the website on their phone.

The Work:

A Brand System Built to Live Everywhere

The Brand Identity

The Red Rooster logo is bold, character-driven, and instantly recognizable. The vintage aesthetic gives it something that a lot of modern logos lack: a sense of earned history and trust. It doesn’t look like it was designed last week, and that’s entirely the point

The brand system was built to scale well beyond a menu or a sign. It needed to work on basket liners, pint glasses, hoodies, event signage, social media, and anywhere else Red Rooster shows up. That kind of flexibility only comes from making thoughtful foundational design decisions from the very start.

Packaging Design

The horseradish pickle label was one of the most meaningful pieces of this project. A product that's been sold and loved for over two decades deserved a label that finally matched its reputation. We brought the brand aesthetic directly into the label design, same vintage character, same premium feel, creating packaging that can hold its own on a retail shelf or behind a bar.

Since the project wrapped, Red Rooster has gone on to collaborate with Gray Goose Vodka on a co-branded vodka label. Evolve wasn’t involved in designing that label, but the logo and brand elements created through this project were the foundation that made that kind of partnership possible. It’s a great example of what a well-built brand can open the door to.

The Website Design and Development

The website was the piece that tied everything together. Before the September 2025 launch, Red Rooster had no web presence at all. No place to send people searching for them online, no way to promote events beyond Facebook, and no central spot to showcase their menu and retail products.

Evolve built the site to serve as their digital home base: a place for customers to explore the full menu, find out what events are coming up, and discover their pickle products. The design carries the same warmth and vintage character as the brand identity, so the experience feels cohesive from the moment someone lands on the page.

A strong SEO foundation was built in from day one. For a business with zero prior web presence, that groundwork was essential. Search engines needed somewhere to start, and Evolve made sure they had it.

The Result:

Growing Every Month Since Launch

Red Rooster launched their website with no prior digital footprint. Every visitor, every click, every search impression since then represents new ground for the business.

Looking at the most recent three months of data, the momentum is clear:

  • 571 clicks — up 31% from the previous period. Real people finding Red Rooster through search for the very first time.
  • 20,700 impressions — Up 28% in Google Search, with brand visibility continuing to grow month over month.
  • 100% traffic growth — From a baseline of zero. Every single visit represents a new connection with the business.

Those aren't just statistics. For a small-town bar and grill that previously existed only on Facebook, those numbers represent real people who found Red Rooster for the first time because they showed up in search results.

The branding impact has extended well beyond the website. Red Rooster has applied their new identity to basket liners, apparel, glassware, and in-store materials; creating a cohesive branded environment that reinforces the experience the moment someone walks in the door.

Courtney has shared that business has felt better across the board since the rebrand and website launch, and that she’s grateful for the partnership. That kind of feedback is what this work is really about.

"We've been working with Evolve Creative for about a year now and they've done some incredible work for us. What started off as a simple website design project turned into a rebranding of the bar/restaurant and moved into a lot of design work for a side project that will most likely outgrow our main business. Briana, DJ, Rae and the rest of the team were able to take our brand manifesto along with some of my ideas, and bring to life what I see in my head. The branding package they developed for us allows me to create cohesive marketing campaigns that retain the brand identity across multiple platforms, including social media and in-store advertising and design."

What This Means for Your Bar, Restaurant, or Food & Beverage Brand

Red Rooster's story is one Evolve comes across often when working with food and beverage businesses. There’s a genuinely great product or experience at the center, a loyal following built over time, and a brand that exists mostly in the owner’s head rather than in any consistent, professional form.

The turning point isn't when you get more customers. It's when your brand and your digital presence finally match the quality of what you're serving.

A few things the Red Rooster project illustrates clearly:

  • Branding and website design work best when they’re built together. When the visual identity and the website are built from the same foundation, same aesthetic, same strategy, and same voice, the result is something that actually feels like the business it represents. When they're built separately, something always feels off or disconnected.
  • Packaging is part of your brand system. If you have a retail product, your label is your brand and often the first thing a new customer sees. It should look like it belongs to the same family as your logo, your website, and your signage. That consistency is what builds trust at a glance.
  • A website is more than a digital brochure. For Red Rooster, the website became an event promotion engine, a menu hub, a retail showcase, and an SEO foundation all in one place. What starts as a simple web presence can become one of the hardest-working assets a bar, restaurant, or food and beverage business owns.

If you run a bar, restaurant, or food and beverage brand and you’re ready to build something you’re truly proud of, Evolve Creative would love to hear from you.
